- Caption reads: Because the Russian likes to hold sugar in his mouth and taste his tea through it, a great deal of the sweet commodity being sent overseas in lend-lease shipments is in cube form. In the photograph Doris Rapko 1102 N. Bodine St., an employee of Pennsylvania Sugar Company's refinery at Delaware Ave. and Shackamaxon St. is fastening a carton containing 25 pounds of Soviet-bound sugar. A strip of broad wire is clamped tightly around each carton.
